About Us
Avenue Community Church - why?
Since Easter of this year, we have been meeting in the main hall of Avenue Junior School. A new congregation has been started here in Clarendon Park because our 'parent' church, Knighton Evangelical Free Church, had grown so much that we became too big for its building. A number of us live in Clarendon Park, so this was the obvious place to start a new church.
Avenue Community Church - what and how?
We have distinctives which characterise what we do, and which tell you something about what we value as a church. We are committed to:
- Being a church family, with strong relationships and friendships in all age groups, from very young to very old (typically, we have about 70-80 adults along on a Sunday morning, including students, 20s 30s, families and right across the age range)
- Basing what we do on the Bible
- Being focused on Jesus - his death for us on the cross, his new resurrection life in which we share, and eternal life with him.
Our meetings, which are accessible, relevant and informal, include:
- Time spent in worship and prayer
- A talk based on a passage from the Bible
- Creche and children’s activities
- Tea, coffee and doughnuts afterwards
Avenue Community Church - but most of all...
...we are Christians who trust in God and live our lives in relationship with him. Church isn’t just a club or social activity, it’s a place to meet with the living God and get to know him better. This is an experience in which we’d love you to share.
Avenue Community Church - where and when?
Please feel free to join us at a service. Our meetings start on a Sundays at 10:30am, and last for about an hour and a quarter, with coffee and doughnuts afterwards. You would be very welcome to join us anytime, for a quick look in at a service or to come along and get involved. We would be really glad to see you.
See the location page for a map - there are signs out on Clarendon Park Road on a Sunday morning to guide you in.
Whats all this Christianity stuff about anyway?
A simple explanation of what Christians believe can be found on the 2 Ways To Live website. Alternatively come along and ask us, or email us!
